The OODA loop, for those of you who might not know, is Observe, Orient, Decide, and Act. In essence it is the mental part of our fight or flight response. Anything you can do to disrupt enemy's is going to shift advantage in your favor. Anyway.
I started having an e-mail conversation with a friend and fellow blogger earlier. (I won't name who.) Anyway, she had mentioned an exchange she'd had with a subject outside a court room. I thought that her reply was on the money and timely. I replied that my dad, being a corrections officer, has regularly gotten inside their minds and tinkered with their world view in similar fashion. At any rate, anything you do that disrupts the flow of events which your enemy/opponent has planned out (typically prior to making contact) is going to help. It isn't the be all end all of the encounter but every little bit helps. And surprise is a deadly weapon.
For instance, a mugger steps out of an alley directly in front of you holding a knife, up and toward your face. What he expects to happen is for you to be shocked into immobility. What he doesn't expect is for you to turn that last step you were taking into a solid kick to his wedding tackle. He is now well outside his OODA loop. Matter of fact, his loop at this point more resembles a figure 8. The planned events didn't go the way he thought. You may now turn and run in the opposite direction and get to a location to safely call 911, or you have now given yourself adequate time to draw your CCW and you may now safely call the police to come collect the wayward miscreant. Or he may decide that without cowardice there is no such thing as courage and remember that he really should be singing hymns at church right now. Which ever way, you have now won this battle.
Similarly if you have an unwanted verbal exchange with a half-melted, unlit candle of humanity. Anything you can say that is either off the wall or out and out hilarious is probably going to make them stop and have to think, or more often, them having to come up with something off the cuff (which doesn't work out so well when you are either slow to respond, or your IQ is around room temperature, even better is when it's both). One example of this comes from my dad. Him having to do random pat-downs of inmates on a regular basis is the start of some of his more hilarious stories. This one is no different.
Inmate: "So how does it feel to be touching a real man?"
My dad: "Dunno, go find one and I'll let you know."
Inmate: "Man, f*ck you."
My dad: "You're not my type. Go to your cell."
The inmate in question then became a subject of mockery to his fellows for sometime afterward. Mainly for being both new to prison in general, and my dad in particular. He also had the unfortunate luck of this happening in front of several of the "old hands" who have known Dad since he started. They both liked (as much as inmates like guards, but more importantly) respected him. They were not kind to that young man. The last dad had mentioned, the inmate was requesting a transfer to a different prison due to the ridicule centered around him not being a "real man." Sometimes it really sucks to be stupid. But then again as dad has always said, "If they were smart, I'd never meet them."
At any rate, always be ready to fight, even if it is just verbal judo. Because the best possible outcome is that you are able to walk away. Stay ready my friends.

Cattle and Turtles and Horses and Tyranny. Oh My.
After the events of the past couple weeks I felt I would weigh in with a bit of natural science. This being learned by living on a farm, something the PETA panderers apparently never did.
My first point is this:
Their main argument seems to center around two species, one of them invasive to the region. The desert tortoise, and wild horses. Guess which one is the invasive species... Some have argued that horses are here naturally, they are not. The horses of today share a common ancestry from Asia, the Middle East and other parts of the Mediterranean region. The horses of Ancient America migrated to these other lands over the Bering Land Bridge or died off. Only to be reintroduced to the Americas by the Spanish. Which is why we still refer to the wild horses of the west as Spanish Mustangs, whether they have much in common with the old Spanish herds or not.
Now for my second point:
My family has raised both cattle and horses on the same land. Now I'd like to point out this is in southern Missouri not the arid climes of the Southwest. As always I could be wrong depending on the location, but here it is anyway. I'd like to say, coming from my actual experience. Cattle are incapable of overgrazing land ahead of horses. Horses by nature of their articulating lips can draw graze into their teeth and are far more dangerous to future growth than cattle. We've grazed horses on ground that was eaten down by cattle to the point that they (the cattle) could no longer forage enough to continue on it and had to be moved to another pasture. Just ahead of us turning the horses into the former pasture to graze what the cattle couldn't for several weeks to a few months depending on time of year and rainfall. YMMV.
As for the tortoise, by the nature of natural selection of turtles and tortoise, they tend to outlive humans, cattle, horses and government agents (who I have doubts about being human), some have even outlived entire governments. While not the same species there is something to be said for living your life slowly. You don't have to fight your competitors if you can outlast them, and their great-great-great-grandchildren.

From Facebook...again.
Wrote a short bitchgraph over at facebook thought I'd add it here too and then I decided to expand on it...A LOT.
Wanna hear a secret? I know what they do care about, their own hides or in the case of mass-shooters on a suicidal mission, carrying out their goals. Now do you want to know what stops these people? A bullet to the brain-housing-group. Done, finished, finale. They stop, they don't pass go, they don't collect adoring fans that think they're cool. The only news report about them is in the obituaries under "DUMBASS" and to put it in internet meme speak "not a single fuck was given all that day".
However, you not only want me disarmed, you want me listed, probed, background checked till I'm bled dry, and then you will only let me have what you think is safe. Here's a news flash for you: I've been shooting since I was 5 (somewhere in the neighborhood of a quarter million rounds at this point, prolly more). I built homemade bows that could kill a deer when I was 10. I learned how to make knives when I was in my early teens. We won't even get into what I know about explosive compounds housed in your kitchen and bathroom. So for the sake of argument lets just say that I AM THE WEAPON. If I really wanted to I could kill you with your own fuzzy slippers had I the need. And you want to start an all out war with several tens of millions of people just like me? Dude, what are you smokin'? Seriously, you got a bad batch. People like me (unlike your touted President) really are benevolent. We choose to live and let live as long as you don't mess with us. However when you do - we mess back, twice as hard.
So despite that, you want you're little war with us Right-wing, bitter-clingers anyway? Ok, lets take a look at that short lived drama. I'll not only embrace a fight if there is no other alternative. I'll do it in the middle of a thunderstorm, in the dark, while systematically reducing your quality of life. Nothing sucks quite like not getting good food, or being able to get a good nights rest... ever. Welcome to your own cold, wet version of Hell*. Me, well I eat just fine thanks, well rested too, nature is a vast supermarket if you know anything about it and how to survive in it. Now we get to the meat of the matter, your superiors just declared little old me mission number one. Great, that's exactly what I was hoping for. While you and your fellow city dwelling buddies are chasing me around Mother Nature, those others I mentioned are raising Holy Hell with your supplies, your command structure and your support personnel. (Did I mention the part about you being outnumbered to start with?) Congratulations, you just got introduced to asymmetrical warfare. It's a real bitch ain't it? BTW, Mother Nature is MY element, she's a lot like "Thunderdome" you and your buddies chase me into it, but only I'm coming out. Coyotes and vultures gotta eat too.
Nothing but love,
JRebel
*Depending on the time of year it could be hot, dry, cold, wet or windy as FL in hurricane season or any combination there of, this is Missouri after all, I've seen it perform freezing rain the night after a 90 degree day and a thunderstorm in the middle of spring. "What you call Hell, I call home". Yes I just paraphrased a line from Rambo, deal with it.
What's happening, "JRebel"? Hell talk about a loaded question there Facebook. Lets see here. We have a bloated federal bureaucracy that wants to take away my guns because some criminal might do something, somewhere, at some point in time. Great!! Except we already have laws in place for that, try enforcing those first. You have others applauding this decision because, well, that's what they do. Criminals will look at these new laws the same way they look at the ones about killing folk, robbing folk, and raping folk. They don't give a damn, they're criminals for a reason. Now on to the expansion that I decided to add just for my two whole readers. Might add it back to FB when I feel like earning more hatred from douchenozzles or the fed.gov, but I repeat myself.

Catching up on a few things.
1) The previous post I mentioned getting a couple of the Tapco 30rd mags for my Mini-14, well quick and dirty review is that they suck rocks with the cheap Russian FMJ's. Closest reason I can find for this is Tapco looked at the OAL of an FMJ cartridge and decided to go a couple microns shorter on the inside of the mags. Haven't checked em out with SP's yet to see if that solves the feed issues since they tend to be somewhat shorter in OAL.
2) The Zombinator aka Franken1911 project is pretty much a done deal. I got the sights done like I wanted, albeit it left the finish on the slide pretty rough. Solved that with a bit of sandpaper a can of adhesion promoter and some khaki flavored krylon. Got the aftermarket rail added and screwed to the dust cover and jerry-rigged a flashlight that will light up a hillside 100yds away enough you could make out the horses walking around. So it'll work quite well at 40ft which is the full length of the house. Something to be said for a cheap 120 lumen flashlight. Its still a rough looking pistol but then again it'll function which is what its supposed to do. I'll take mildly pretty and hard-use over beautiful and fragile any day. It isn't being submitted to compete in any beauty contests.
And last but not least 3) The elections, never ever underestimate the stupidity of your fellow man. It has been said before but bears repeating now more than ever: "Be kind, Be courteous, and have a plan to kill everyone you meet." Screw it. Especially when you hear some moron pontificate on how wonderful it is living in this;perfect socialist utopia, hellhole, pit, giant, gaping, smoking, death crater of oblivion we used to call America. Fuck you worthless hippie, socialist, parasites and your chief murdering, treasonous, venom-spitting ophilian and all his subordinates too. I'm done being nice. I'm tired of being polite to people whose only goal is to destroy MY country, MY freedom and MY way of life. Well no more Mr. Nice Guy my little bitches. Its well past time to play nice.

Dude, WTF?
So I've been reading about the shit-storm that the purveyor of "smoke and thunder" is causing in the gunnie blogiverse. I only have one thing to say to them...DUDE!!! Really? You've made it your mission in life to insult and berate a group of people. (Using myself as the lowest common denominator.) That has an average IQ that falls squarely in "Above Average" territory, with what I am absolutely certain has a few people that qualify for Mensa memberships among us. You've gotta be crazy to pick a fight with people that are not only armed in the literal sense but also armed and dangerous in the mental sense. Supremely capable of doing a Vulcan mindf**k on you and making you like it. Not to mention the lambasting you get everytime you open your virtual piehole. (As Lawdog would prolly say.) "You daft git." My advise for "smoke and thunder" is simply this, take it or leave it, cut your losses before you do something even more stupid. Seriously, we hate getting into battles of wit with the unarmed.

Election Day.
Before any little PSH starts...No I didn't shoot anyone, no I didn't carry my gun into the polling place (I can't carry within 25 feet of any polling place on election day here in MO) so the few libtards that live in this area were "safe from fear" whatever-the-hell that means.
Anyway, as we say:

6-6-44
The day the earth trembled from the thunder of the guns, both at sea and ashore. What some remember and others do not, was that the near dawn landings on the beaches were not the first combat actions of the day. The first actions of that day were already being carried out by approximately 17,000 brave paratroopers. These young men jumped and glided into a fire storm of lead and steel several hours before the beach landings to begin the bloody process of removing a well entrenched enemy from defenses they had almost 5 years to put in place. With only the equipment they had on their backs.
Hampered by missed drop-points of several miles in many cases, preventing units from grouping according to plan.
This is why I have such great love of the Airborne units, they didn't let a little thing like heavy enemy fire and the failure of "Leadership's Plan A" ruin their plans. Their plan was simple and always has been. "Jump" and if you survive that "Kill, by any means available". Which is why we call the paratroopers -

Big. Brass. Balls.
That's what I thought when I saw this kid. HOOAHH little brother, gityasum. To me he really sums up what Israel is all about. The one lone soldier, surrounded and refusing to give up. It takes a lot of guts to stand up and say to the bully, "STFU. I'm here, now do somethin' 'bout it." The bad thing is (as you can see in the video) the number of people in this country willing to support the same type of people that advocate killing them just because they are Americans. All because Israel did exactly what they said they would, they enforced the blockade they put in place to try and stem the flow of aid to terrorists. Now tell me again why this is a bad thing, you f--ktards.
Hamas, Hezbollah and Al Qaeda are all alike, they have no honor or redeeming virtue, they are a plague and "we" (REAL Americans and our friends the Israelis) have the vaccine*.
Israelis have taken shit for awhile now and they are sick of it. I say cut the dogs loose boys and girls, I'll back ya.

It's almost like Missouri isn't a safe place to be a criminal.

"Holdup victim kills robber along Dunn RoadYet there was still someone getting full-on PSH over it.
A man who was robbed at gunpoint in Hazelwood on Tuesday night fought back and shot the robber to death, police say.
The victim of the holdup pulled his own gun and fatally shot the robber at about 8:40 p.m. Tuesday on a street in Hazelwood."
"Richard Garger, 71, who lives on Eagles Way Court about a half-block from the shooting, said he heard eight shots.Well I'd say it was a damned good thing that the victim had a gun. It just means there's one less little punk running around trying to add his own tally to the crime rate.
'What are the odds of two guys with guns walking down the street?' he said. 'It’s like the Old West.'"

It warms my heart...
To see another little punk get one upped by his intended victim. Not only that but the neighborhood seems pretty well thrilled with the results.

A Battle of Wits...
The only problem is only one man will be armed. Well some may decide to sleep late, or go to bed early. I will be watching the EPIC battle that will be Caleb vs Dennis Henigan of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Ownership (if you think I'm going to give them a link...think again).
UPDATE: Not the epic battle we had hoped for, yet somehow I have to add this to the Win column. Caleb did great. Dennis, well not so much what with pulling "facts" out of his ass like he did. Then again that's what the VPC and Brady Bunch do best.
UPDATE 2: Caleb has the video up here.
